About the School

Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School offer what they call the “Vesey Experience”: Inspirational teaching and outstanding learning academic excellence, a spirit of enquiry and curiosity. Founded in 1527, Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School has the mission to provide inspiration and excellence to able boys and girls from Birmingham and across the Midlands. They are one of the leading state schools nationally.

Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School seek to build on the talents of students so that they become scholars with a deep knowledge, understanding and life-long enthusiasm for the challenging academic curriculum, which includes the prestigious Mandarin Excellence Programme.

At ‘A’ level, standards have been consistently high over the last 7 years with on average 82% of the grades being attained at A*-B and around 70% of students going to study at Russell Group universities. Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School has an excellent record of Oxbridge and Ivy League success with 33 offers to these world-class institutions in recent years.

Attainment at GCSE is rising and progress is outstanding. In 2019, 73% of all grades where at Grade 7 or better.

Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School opens doors by offering, from Year 7 upwards, all students the opportunity to learn a new musical instrument and take up new sports. The Vesey school family benefits from a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities from debating, drama, music and chess to rowing, rugby, hockey, cricket and netball.

How to prepare for the 11+ in 

Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School

The exam is written by CEM 11+ so practice in English and maths questions will be essential. While starting preparation early is recommended even now additional preparation will be beneficial for your child. 11+ practice books can be found here.
