About the School

Rickmansworth School is a successful partially-selective comprehensive academy and the school has achieved significant improvements in student achievement at all key stages.

This was recognised by Ofsted who graded Rickmansworth School "as good with outstanding features" in October 2017. Ofsted recognised the significant improvements staff have made at Rickmansworth School and the positive impact this is having on student outcomes; equipping all students for adult life. Staff are committed to moving the School forward to become a beacon of excellence in all areas and this is something Ofsted positively commented upon. Operating on a foundation of traditional values, Rickmansworth School is an institution that welcomes change and regards itself as being at the forefront of development.

For many years Rickmansworth School has been the hub school for the local sports partnership and have specialisms in Science and the Performing Arts. Students only get one chance at their secondary education and the school aim is to ensure that every student receives the very best education at Rickmansworth School. Staff set high academic standards and ensure all students learn in an environment which develops values of respect, courtesy, consideration and tolerance. Staff aim to ensure that all students leave Rickmansworth School as well-rounded young people and the school is proud of an extensive extra-curricular programme which includes international trips.

Due to popular demand Rickmansworth School was expanded in September 2018 to take an additional form of entry each year, going forward. In order to facilitate this the School was supported by a capital grant of £3.5 million. Consequently, the School has undergone a major refurbishment programme including the construction of a fantastic new Sixth Form Centre, English classroom suite, a specialist Film Studies suite (including a cinema), and a specialist theatre/drama studio which compliments a recently extended dining hall, refurbished swimming pool and first-class Sports Hall.

Rickmansworth School has a modernised Modern Foreign Languages Faculty (including the installation of a languages laboratory) and the Mathematics Faculty, they have created new Science laboratories, and refurbished the Music block and the School Hall. Rickmansworth School has a strategic improvement plan to refurbish the whole School site and are constantly looking for ways to improve provision for the students.

At Rickmansworth School staff promote key values and ethos through the six “Ricky Rs”; through their curriculum, staff educate students to:

be Responsible
