The school can trace its history back to Newchurch Grammar School founded in 1703. The core of their staff formed Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School on the current site in 1913. With 100 years of serving families in Rossendale and beyond, the school is proud of its heritage and celebrate many school traditions, but alongside this, they seek to embrace positive change and innovation.
