About the School
Nonsuch High School for Girls is a school in which the whole school community commits to excellence: the students at Nonsuch work hard to achieve the results they rightly aspire to and they receive unquestionably strong support from teachers, staff and parents. School teachers are experts in their fields and committed to bringing out the best in the students.
Nonsuch High School for Girls is fully committed to the safeguarding of all its students.
Not only do girls achieve academic excellence but they enjoy contributing to the school and wider community. In taking part in sporting, creative and fund-raising activities they develop their skills of leadership, creativity and awareness of the world around them. Staff are ambitious for their whole development in preparing them to be perceptive and caring global citizens who are not only prepared for the 21st century but who understand its complexity. In a rapidly evolving world they need to learn to manage uncertainty, make wise choices and develop the skills and desire for life-long learning. The pastoral support at the school by tutors and teachers helps girls and young women to manage themselves and their emotions as they move through adolescence and leave school as emerging adults.
The Nonsuch High School for Girls curriculum is broad and balanced and supports students in developing their skills in Maths, Science, the arts, language and literature, sport and dance, humanities and languages. Staff encourage young women in fields where they are currently under-represented and in which many of school students excel such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Staff also encourage creativity in thinking skills and the arts as these are important areas in the UK economy and ones in which the UK is a world leader. The humanities, English and languages develop skills of communication and analysis. Nonsuch High School for Girls has an emphasis on public speaking and debating helps students become articulate communicators and hones their powers of persuasion. The job market requires thoughtful and talented young people whose skills are transferable and this is not the preserve of a single academic subject or group of subjects.
This school provides a wealth of enrichment opportunities beyond lessons and is proud of its long-standing House System which underpins the life of the school. It is the feeling of belonging to and having a productive place in a school community that fosters self-confidence and a positive state of mind in young people.
Nonsuch students participate fully in all that is offered to them. Music fills the school through performances by its numerous orchestras, bands, choirs, quartets, duets and soloists. The Music department can meet the needs of the absolute beginner to the Conservatoire and Oxbridge performer. Artistic talent is further developed with a flourishing Drama department with its school productions and impromptu performances and the Art and Technology departments who host an annual Art Soiree.
Sport is equally valued at Nonsuch. Nonsuch High School for Girls has exceptional facilities including a full size sport hall, modern 25m indoor swimming pool, an astro pitch for hockey, netball and tennis courts and extensive fields for athletics, football, rounders and cricket. Nonsuch High School for Girls has a large number of students who compete at National and International level and similarly the school itself is a Borough, Regional and National winner in many sports. Nonsuch girls have a great sense of their role and responsibility in the wider world. They widen their horizons through travel abroad on school trips, most recently to New York, China, and several European countries and they are competitive fund raisers for charities locally, nationally and internationally.
Throughout its 80 years of existence, and now as part of the Girls' Learning Trust, Nonsuch has striven to provide the best educational experience for girls to prepare them for their future life. Staff are very proud of their school and they invite you to find out more about it by exploring their school website.
