About the School

Sir Thomas Rich’s school gives you a flavour of what life is like at Sir Thomas Rich’s. Staff work hard to create an environment where students will be happy, grow in self-confidence, thrive academically, and make the most of the many opportunities on offer. Staff pride themselves on the pursuit of excellence both inside the classroom and out, and on encouraging pupils to develop their talents and interests.

Sir Thomas Rich’s is a selective school, taking 150 boys into Year 7 who join from Gloucester, the county and beyond. There is a mixed Sixth Form into which Sir Thomas Rich’s welcome a current total of 150 girls. Sir Thomas Rich’s was awarded Specialist College status in three areas (Languages, Science, Leading Edge Mentor School) and on 1st October 2010 they became one of the first of the new Academies.

Although staff endeavour to ensure pupils have access to the latest educational developments, Sir Thomas Rich’s has not forgotten its heritage and they are proud of their traditions, the best of which underpin and influence the overall ethos of the school.
